Pre/Post Instructions

Q: What do I need to do before my spray tan?

A: Several days before your tan:

  1. Well hydrated skin tans most evenly so increase your water intake days leading up to  your appointment.
  2. Apply moisturizers liberally morning and evening.

The day before your tan:

  1. Tightly closed pores tan most evenly.
  2. Shave or wax 24+ hours before your appointment.
  3. Exfoliate entire body using an exfoliating mitt, oil free scrub, wash cloth, or loofah.
  4. Manicure and pedicure should be done 24 hours prior to appointment.

The day of your tan

  1. Barrier-free skin tans most evenly. No lotion or oils. You may use your facial moisturizer as normal.
  2. All DOVE products should be avoided, as it leaves a film on the skin that the spray tan solution will not penetrate. Yes, even  the sensitive skin kind.
  3. Avoid wearing lotions, oils, and perfumes.
  4. Remove deodorant
  5. Remove make-up
  6. Bring loose, dark clothing to wear after your spray.
  7. Absolutely NO leggings or yoga pants!
  8. Bring flip flops to wear after your tan.
  9. If wearing shorts vs pants, bring a towel to sit on for the ride home.

Q: When can I rinse off after my tan?

A: 8 hours for a Classic Tan OR  2-5 hours for a Rapid Tan.

Q: What do I do when its time for my first rinse?

A: Rinse for  2-3  minutes  gently using your hands to help remove all bronzer  from the skin.  Do not use any soap on your first rinse.  Make sure you are not using hot water. Warm water is best.  After you do not see any more bronzer coming off your body, you can get out. pat dry, and moisturize.  Deodorant and make-up can be applied as usual.

Q: How long will my tan last?

A: Although the longevity of your tan is determined based on how well you prepped and care for your tan post spray, you can expect 7-12 days of color.

Q: How do I care for my tan after I get sprayed?

A: Stay hydrated. Moisturize 2-3x/day with a lotion that is free of mineral oil, parabens, and sulfates.  We recommend Hempz Triple Moisture.  Do not over shower.  Use a tan extender to help prolong your tan.   You can purchase both  hempz  and  extender  in our  salon  at  the  time  of  your  appointment .    Avoid hot tubs and pools.

Q: Can I get in the ocean or pool  or  hot  tub?

A: Yes, but keep in mind it will accelerate the fading of your tan.  To help combat premature fading, use waterproof sunscreen as your protective barrier.  Take short swims.  Once you get out of the water if you have access to a fresh water shower rinse off any chlorine or salt water that is left on your skin.  After you're done with water activities for the day apply your tan extender to deposit color back that may have faded during your water activities.

Q: Can I shave after I get sprayed?

A: This is why we ask you to remove all hair prior to getting sprayed, but in the case you need to shave your legs.  Use a new razor with 1-2 blades with no moisture strip.  We recommend the cheap disposable ones.  Do not use shaving cream.  Instead use  sunless  safe   body wash and gently shave with light pressure.  You  can shave your underarms as usual.  Sunless  safe  body  wash  is  available  in  salon.

Q: Can I still burn with a spray tan?

A: YES, spray tans do not contain any SPF.  Please wear sunscreen to protect your skin. Avoid aerosol sunscreen due to the high alcohol content.  We recommend Sun Bum's waterproof lotion sunscreen  and  we  carry  South  Seas  Sport  Lotion  in  salon  for  your  convenience.

Q: I have a sunburn, can I get a spray tan?

A: NO,  NO,  NO!    Please do not book a spray tan appointment if you currently have a sunburn or you have burned in the last 6 weeks.  Your skin needs to heal.  Applying spray tan solution will only accelerate  your peeling and give you less than desirable results.  If you come in with a sunburn,  you risk the chance of being turned away and  will  not  receive  your  deposit  back.     Trust us, you do not want to spray tan over a burn.

Q:  When can I work out after my spray tan?

A: 24 hours after your first shower.

Q: When do you recommend I get sprayed for an event?

A: 2 days prior to your event.

Q:  When  do  you  recommend  I  get  sprayed  for  vacation?

A:  Spray  the  day  before  you  leave ,  if  possible,  so  you  tan  can  be  fresh  on  vacation.

Q: Do you recommend a trial tan before my wedding?

A:  YES!  We  REQUIRE  a  trial  tan!    A spray tan is the base of your entire overall look. Book your trial a minimum of 4  weeks prior to your wedding to ensure we have the correct color combination for your perfect day!

Q: When do you recommend I get spray for my wedding?

A: 2 days prior to your wedding.

Q: Can I host a spray tan party?

A: Yes!  We love spray tan parties.  It can just be you and your bff OR larger groups up to 10.  Book 5 of your best friends and you tan FREE!  We will also provide complimentary beverages  and  light

hors d'oeuvres when it's 5 or more.
